Add page numbers to a PDF

Give every page of your PDF a number, placed and styled the way you want. You can begin the count at any number and keep the first page free of numbering if it is a cover.

Your files never leave your device

How to use it

  1. Pick your PDF, or drop it onto the box.
  2. Set where the numbers sit, which style to use and the number to begin at.
  3. Press Add page numbers, then download your numbered PDF.

Formats and starting points

There are four formats to pick from: a bare number such as 1, 2, 3; Page 1; Page 1 of 12; and 1 / 12. The count can begin at whatever number you choose, which is handy when this document picks up where an earlier one ended. You can also skip the first page, so a title or cover page is left without a number.

Making long documents easy to follow

Page numbers let people point to the right place in a report, a set of exhibits or a meeting pack. If you want several files numbered as one continuous run, combine them with Merge PDF before adding the numbers.

Questions and answers

Does adding numbers alter the rest of the document?

No. Each number is laid over its page, and everything else stays as it was.

Can I start at a number other than 1?

Yes. Choose any starting number, which is useful when one document carries on from another.

Can I leave the cover page without a number?

Yes. There is an option to leave the first page unnumbered.

Does TeddyPDF upload my file?

No. Your browser does all the work, on your own device. Before it opens your file, this page shuts off its own ability to send or fetch anything, and your browser holds it to that. Try it: once the page has loaded, turn off your Wi-Fi and the tool still works. How the lock works.
